In the privacy of our own mind, we’re in the company of a voice that can be a real jerk. If you forget about your own sense of wellbeing, you can’t help but limit yourself in the world. Listening to the voices in your head - realizing that you do in fact have a voice in your head that can shame you, make you feel less, or tell you you’re not doing enough is an integral awareness that can bring new light to the life you live. It can allow you to articulate your process, connect more deeply to the things that link your mind, body, and soul. By improving your sense of awareness and the act of commentating in your mind, different words will come within your internal conversations.
Building a new sense of self and being in the practice of self-awareness can bring about new self-talk, self-love, self-acceptance, and self-worth. When the voice in my head sounds like a jerk, I pause, and sometimes, outloud I will say, “You know what, I’m doing my best in this lifetime, go easy on me please.” and somehow, the voice inside subsides, almost to a whisper. Don’t let the voices in your head talk you out of taking risks, trying new things, and being present.
