Suffering and Joy, Loss and Oneness

You might think when you are happy that you are grateful. Think again. Gratefulness makes us happy. The key to this is that we can’t only experience it sometimes, we can’t just have grateful experiences, we have to be people who live gratefully. How? By experiencing and becoming aware that every moment is a given moment – a gift, that you have been given.

There may not be another moment given to you like this present moment, so you have to be grateful for the opportunity that it contains. Opportunity is the gift in the present moment. Sometimes something difficult happens challenging us to rise to the opportunity to remain grateful for the teaching.

In the moments where you are feeling robbed, lost, alone, lied to, or challenged these are opportunities to remain grateful. If you fail hopefully you get another opportunity which is the richness of life. Yet, in death, when you don't get another opportunity to say, "My love, I know you are suffering which makes me suffer too. I am here for you. I love you and I am grateful for this moment to learn how to listen and honor the truth in our suffering." you must still remain grateful.

That is oneness.

When I open my heart to the opportunities, it gives me the opportunity to live with joy and connection which keeps me grateful. What life offers to us in that present moment to enjoy even in suffering is a gift. Find joy and go with it. Be creative and find happiness in all moments.

Though I miss my beloved every day, every morning i feel the loss, I meditate and remind myself of how blessed this present moment is and I remain grateful for the life I have been given by the divine.

Be Grateful.
