What is resilience? I would define it as a sense of wellbeing, calm, ease, and efficiency. In this state you bounce back from getting sick, an injury, or a loss of a loved one causing grief or emotional stress. We all know what stress is, sort of. But resilience is a “state of being” created by the whole body due to the interconnected aspects of the gut, the nervous system (mind and body systems), and the fascial system which is inherently also linked to muscles and other structures in the body.To move forward or overcome the negative effects of stress- both mentally or physically is linked to how the parts connect. And what connects all of these components of a human body? The whole-body communication system known as fascia.
I am willing to wager that what most people were not clued into back when human science and technology were in their infant stages (and maybe even now) is that resilience is a condition generated by the whole body with its interconnecting systems. Resilience could also be defined as “adaptability” or “fitness”. I think they are all synonymous to some degree.
Life is impermanent and our ability to not crumble with change but realize change is all there really is in life makes us powerful and real in our ability to maintain resilience. When trauma occurs, when stress is high, when our mind is fatigued, how do you harness your inner resilience to overcome something mentally, emotionally, or physically? I think it depends on how connected we really are to the human experience. We get hung up in the drama of daily life and allow our emotions to take over our inner state of resilience. How can you overcome your emotional charge? Buy becoming an observer, in the process of observation, on whatever it is that you are observing. It’s really that simple, so, ready that sentence again and figure out how to do that.
So, again, what’s in between the parts we define like the mind, the nervous system, the lymphatic system, musculoskeletal system and so on? That’s fascia. On a microscopic level, the extracellular matrix, on the macroscopic level, fascia – this is what holds it all together, giving everything support, protection, and connection. Fascia is a fluid matrix allowing frequency and vibration to pass from one structure to another. If we consider structures in the body to be made of subatomic particles, then the fluids in fascia are the wave component that offer possibilities and change. Even human beings act like quantum waves.
So, how do you know if this fluid connector is functioning efficiently? How can you catch pre-pain or pre-problem signals before you have pain, digestive issues, sleep issues and so on? The simplest way to assess if the environment everything functions in is in optimal condition is to pay attention to the following pre-pain signals:
If you answered yes to one or more of these pre-pain signals your fascia needs a tune up. You need to MELT and learn how to restore the fluid flow in the fascial system to boost your whole-body resilience before more unwanted symptoms arise. If not, you’re accelerating your potential to have chronic joint pain, repetitive stress injuries, and accelerate your aging process. Learn more and work to restore your resilience through fascial training. Your mind, body, and spirit are counting on you to help prepare and restore this vital connecting system so you can perform and repeat daily habits and movements pain-free.
I teach a live class on Zoom every single week on the MELT Method platform. If you think your resilience needs a tune up, join me this week by registering for a class here.
